Good Things That Can Be Bad For You

There are many things in Life that in themselves are good but can be bad for you. You believe you are enjoying your life to the fullest but Haba, Iro, you are slowly no longer living. Are you interested in what these are? Here are some you are not aware of:

Work:

Oh, are you the one Rihanna referred to in her lyrics? Everyone around you knows you are always working. We understand that Nigeria is broke, but take time out to relax. Most of that money you are hoarding is meant for spending. Money is hard to find, na so, but understand that someone else would spend that money if you are stressed out while accumulating it. Live for Today. If you spend your lifetime trying to earn a living, it is tiring. I am not advising you to stop working, but stop storing for future nine lives.

Relationships:

Even while we agree that friendships are to be maintained, some of our interpersonal relationships ring out alarm bells. In some of our relationships, many of us are alright with never saying ‘No’.  Relationships that always place others before you are unhealthy. For such obvious relationships that stop you from living, carefully take a break.

Driving:

It is one of the most useful skills in the world. Driving is a privilege and not a right. Many are however not aware of its hazardous effect on the body. Anyone who lives and experiences Lagos Traffic can bear witness that driving is very nerve-wracking. Rather than sit away all day in traffic, you can switch it up with public transport, or even walk if where you’re headed is not too far. You need to relieve both the mental and physical stress. Sitting a lot while driving hurts your body’s ability to burn fat, causing health related risks.

Food:

No need for groaning! Yes, you. I am not talking about the harmful calories you consume daily. A lot has been said about your visit to the fast foods, and you haven’t done anything yet, so that ends my lecturing. You already know your sins. However, I’m talking about eating food in a regulated and supervised way probably for the purpose of reducing or gaining weight. Too much of everything is a danger sign to your health. A lot of people dieting in Nigeria do not account for the psychological effects of doing so. People go into dieting without considering their health and even daily nutrition. Dieting can obstruct the body’s ability to manage and cope with the sudden changes caused in the body. Anorexia, Bulimia which is the resort to forced vomiting in order to lose weight immediately as well as binge eating, to mention a few are effects of extreme dieting.

Sleep:

Good night sleep is essential for your health. People tend to either oversleep or sleep too little. A good night sleep is about seven to nine hours. This, however, varies depending on your lifestyle, health and many others. Not many who have unregimented sleeping periods have sleeping disorders. Most rather just love to sleep too much or less. Anyways, if you notice you are not getting enough rest during the week days, possibly due to work. Please, try to cover up your sleeping hours during your weekends. Very Important.
