The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 got launched yesterday at the company’s UNPACKED event at New York. It wouldn’t be totally out of place to put in a joke about how the Galaxy Note 7 was quite the ‘Blast’. But for those that don’t know, Samsung eventually released a refreshed and ‘safer’ Note 7 which they renamed Note FE (Fan Edition). I mean you’d really have to be a big fan of Samsung to want to buy that device.
Ok. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 comes with a polished aluminum frame, and it could pass as the masculine version of the sleeker feminine-looking Galaxy S8. The device rocks a whooping 6.3” Infinity display-a bigger version of the infinity display that was debuted on the Galaxy S8. It also has Gorilla Glass 5 front and back and is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, meaning you can take it for a swim, or use it conveniently under rain.
Samsung has finally joined the dual camera league and launched the Note 8 with two 12MP rear cameras both equipped with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), and an 8MP front camera. Samsung promises brilliant low-light shots and great portrait shots.
On the performance side, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 comes with 6GB RAM, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 64GB internal storage and microSD expansion up to 256GB. It ships with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and has a 3,300mAh battery.
The S Pen and its cool features have been the selling point of the Note series, and the Galaxy Note 8 sports the most advanced S Pen so far with a thinner tip, water and dust resistance, and loads of new in-phone functionality.
