10 Ways to Exfoliate Your African Skin

Exfoliating your skin means to get rid of dead cells from the surface of your skin. Your body is sluggish in tossing these dead skin cells; it gets rid of it in a slower process. When the skin starts to pile up, it can cause the skin to look haggard and wrinkled. In simple terms, exfoliating is to assist your skin so that you can look better, be restored and appear fresher.

There are many ways you can exfoliate your African’s skin. For instance several items you have in your kitchen cabinets might be all you need to expose the glow that is inherent:

    1. Sugar Scrub Cleanse:

As sweet and useful sugar is to our garri, it is also great to use on our skin. Rinse your skin first. Mix sugar with olive oil or coconut oil and scrub gently until you feel sugar melt off, then rinse.

    2. Baking Soda:

Mix ½ tablespoon of baking soda with a gentle cleanser, apply with medium to light pressure and in circular rotations for 1-2 minutes. Rinse off.

    3. Honey:

Honey is a natural exfoliant. Start with a dry face, gently apply honey to your face, massage it in for a minute or so, rinse with warm water or wipe off, it helps heal dark spots and prevent blemishes.

    4. Pear-Honey Exfoliate:

Mix pear with virgin coconut oil and organic honey. Combine all of the ingredients in your blender. Wash your face and then rub a handful of pear exfoliator. Apply it with your fingertip, and massage the mixture on your face. Rinse.

    5. Blueberry and Honey Scrub:

Combine fresh blueberries with honey, add sugar into a small food processor and blend till it is even. Add plenty on your face and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.

    6. Tomato Sugar Scrub:

Cut your tomato into semi-slices, dip into sugar, rub your face with the tomato in a circular motion, and leave it for ten minutes. Rinse.

    7. Charcoal Exfoliating Facial Scrub:

Not the normal charcoal used for cooking, this type is referred to as Activated Charcoal. While this reminds us of “dirty games we played as kids”, it is very effective. Add sugar and activated charcoal to a bowl, add olive oil to the concoction. Apply a small amount of the scrub to your hand and massage over a clean face for thirty seconds. Rinse.

    8. Lemon Homemade Scrub:

Combine brown sugar with egg white and lemon juice. Gently massage for five to ten minute following bottom up method. Wash with warm water and finish off with cool water.

    9. Towel:

Rub your skin gently with your towel preferably dipped in warm water, and you are as good as new.

10. Creams and Scrubs:

You can buy exfoliating creams and scrubs across cosmetic shops around you. However ensure it contains glycolic acid, shea butter moisture among others.
